I’m alive guys. Here’s a quick update.
I’m like really into longboarding again. I finally have friends who are actually committed to the sport and are willing to go on longboarding sessions with me. We went to the sea wall last week and we’re going again this week so that they can practice their riding it. They’re just learning how to cruise and stuff right now so they won’t want to learn how to slide and stuff yet…. but we’ll get there.
I’m just glad that I have friends that actually want to learn how to ride, and slide, and not just use the board to cruise along the beach for the summer.

The graphics on the Landyachtz 2014 line up is weeeeak. I know it doesn’t matter because I’m sure they’ve upgrade the models by adding gas pedals and more concave and other specs and blah blah blah… but come on, there are some people that care about the aesthetics of a board.
Favourite graphics imo are definitely the 2011 Wolfshark, 2011 9two5, 2012 and 2013 Time machine, and 2013 Drop Speed. So pretty.
Also I never understood why people like to rape their boards with stickers. I understand plastering stickers on a helmet, but boards? Why? Someone explain this to me. If there is artwork there, then let the artwork show. If not, then go crazy with the stickers but when I get free longboard related stickers I just stick them on my laptop lol.
Update - Response to the rude comment I received on this post.
the-ct-ragin-cajun: wtf calm down. Is it a crime to like the graphics? It’s not like I’m judging you if you have a shitty graphic on your longboard. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder right? What I think is nice might be ugly as fuck to another. You can say the exact same goes for clothing "omg who cares about how it looks, as long as you’re not naked. Stop being pretentious and wear something that covers you up." I’m guessing you wear a potato sack everywhere since you don’t care about the appearance of anything, as long as you’re covered up you’re good to go right?
And how the fuck am I pretentious? I never said that I was better than anyone based on the appearance of my board? I’m not trying to impress anyone with my knowledge of graphics. It’s not even knowledge, it’s an opinion. God, the context that you’re using it in doesn’t even make sense. I usually just brush off asshole comments but holy shit I hate it when people use the word ‘pretentious’ to insult people. It’s annoying and overused on Tumblr. Just let me like the graphics goddamnit. Stop making me feel bad just because I care about the artwork. If graphics didn’t matter then every board would be plain.
God, sorry for having an opinion.
P.S - sorry if my response is rude, but then again your comment was rude. I’m pissed.

So I’m still fairly new to this longboarding thing. It’s gonna be winter soon so I must ask… What do longboarders do in the winter?

see-youall-in-hell said: dancing is the perfect winter longboarding sport, as long as you have balance and confidence, you can start learning! DO IT ITS AWESOME. also, lush longboards has a great dancer longboard called the Legend for relatively cheap
B-b-but snow?! and ICE?! I’m gonna have to stock up on protective gear. I MUST LEARN HOW TO DANCE. IT’S SO COOL. I’m totally mesmerized by it all. I can watch hours of youtube videos of people dancing because I just think it’s so amazing.
And thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check out lush. The only brands I ever really look into are Landyachtz and Rayne. I’m a Vancouverite so I’m fairly biased.

Longboarding season is essentially over for me and I did not learn any new skills. I have failed.
What I did learn is that I hate hills and I’ll probably never want to be a downhill rider. Although that is a good 70% of the longboarding scene. 20% are free riders, 7% are dancers and maybe 3% are cruisers.
Actually no, i lied. There’s probably tons of cruisers out there given the fact that longboarding was basically a fashion statement this summer with white girls buying a pintail for the sole purpose to look hipster. Whatevs man, I ain’t judging.
Anyways, back to what I’ve learned in my longboarding journey.
- How to cruise
- How to carve
- How to footbrake
- What riding style I prefer
- that’s about it.
I learned all of this in like the first month, but then I just gave up. I tried sliding. Honestly I did. But every time I tried practicing I would always end up with road rash and the copious amounts of Polysporin I was buying was breaking my bank. I’ll try again next summer. Or any sunny day.
I also want to start dancing. Dancing is so underrated but it honestly the sickest thing I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even know it was a thing until maybe 5 months in this journey because it is so uncommon. Everyone just cares about bombing hills and sliding but if I ever saw a longboarder dancing irl then i’d rip off my panties in a heartbeat. Well he has to be a good dancer. Yeah, yeah the thirst is strong.
I’m thinking about getting the Platypus by Simple Longboards. It’s designed for dancing and it’s so beautiful. But it’s expensive as hell. Simple originates from the Netherlands and I’m from Canada so shipping would be a whopping $75. Ugh. The deck is already $215 so I’d be spending about $300 for just a deck. Is it really worth it? Probably not. Am I still going to buy it? Meeehhhhh maybe. My birthday is coming up on the 29th and Christmas is kinda just around the corner.. not really but yeah, so this could be a combination of presents to myself? Do people do that? No? Ok.
I’m still thinking about it.

So I wrote an article about longboarding for my news writing assignment. I presented it in class today and then this guy started talking to me about long boarding. i immediately got a lady boner.
we’ve been in the same class for a little over a month now and I found out NOW that he longboards. I asked him what his set up was.
My lady boner died the second he said “Sector 9”.
